Through the unparalleled support of the
Austin Parks and Recreation Department and the Urban Music Festival,
the Soultree Collective Project was created as a vehicle to audition, mentor
and develop a new R&B/soul group of young aspiring musicians.
Each
program year, the newly created band will debut on the Urban Music
Festival main stage. As the program progresses, bands of past program
years will continue to be showcased and supported by the Soultree
Collective.
Take
Two
Last
year, Urban Soul brought to life what UMF producers
anticipated would be an extended legacy of young Austin artists that
begin to embrace a new attitude and appreciation for R&B/soul
music. This year, the program continues with Musik Hertz,
Austin’s newest R&B/soul band—young,
talented, and faithful.
Musik Hertz is the second generation
of the Soultree Collective’s dream – supporting,
mentoring, and showcasing the young true talent in the Austin
area. Members of Musik Hertz include:

In ages ranging from 15-18 years old, these talented teenagers mix
classic and contemporary R&B hits with personal styles to deliver a
replay-worthy performance. The front-line, Francesca Brown
(soprano), Myia Bunch (alto) and Antwon McNeece (tenor), put original
vocal stylings and arrangements on songs by artists such as Stevie
Wonder, The Gap Band and Erykah Badu.
The musicians, Myron Bunch (drums), Wynton Thomas (keyboard), Joe
Martin (trumpet) and Florida Jaimes (flute, saxophone) provide the
perfect soundtrack for the new generation of live R&B/soul
music. Musik Hertz also features Eric Garcia, 22, on the bass
guitar. As a true lover of music, Eric stepped in late in the
game to support his young counterparts. As mainstream music moves
farther away from true musicianship and raw vocal abilities, Musik
Hertz proves that talent exists in our youth. It just needs to be
recognized, supported, and allowed to grow.
